The Little Red Riding Hood!

Jorie and I rode 100 miles for the Little Red Riding Hood this May. Actually, it was probably more like 110 miles. We got lost and ended up doing a few extra! Good exercise and the beautiful outdoors made this ride awesome. It was so fun that Jorie wants to make it a tradition. Maybe Cort will join us next year!

Jorie and I after the race. 113 miles, 6 hours and 13 minutes from the start!

Here is where we passed into Idaho. Crazy to think we rode to another state!

Snorkle Steve

Jorie & John with Steve Stewart along the beach by The Fairmont in Maui. We call Steve the Gonzo Diver because he fits more diving into a single day than any other man alive.

Bowling at the Club

Bowling is serious business at the Scarsdale Country Club. Not only does everyone have their own ball and shoes, but they each have their own locker!

All guys must have collared shirts (and NO jeans). Have they ever looked better?  What a handsome crew.

Check out Inga in her bowling skirt. We were all so jealous!

Tessa was sooo happy to hold the ball but not too interested in throwing it down the lane. She is used to" Candlestick" bowling in Boston.

The "cousins" chillin.

Our scores weren't the best but we loved bowling with the Bodines.

Members only at the Scarsdale Country Club.

Turkey Day in NYC

This is Turkey Thom. I want to sit up there.

CJ, Jo and Peeps waiting at the Scarsdale station for the city train on The Harlem Line.

The Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center is always up on Thanksgiving.

The girls hanging out waiting for the subway.

There wasn't much room on that ledge but somehow all three kids fit on it for a super view of the parade.

CJ on Broadway. Those are real trees up there. Spectacular! Someone said "the Donald" chose them.

Things are clearing out, I guess it's time to go home.
So lucky to have ALL of us in NYC for the Thanksgiving Holiday. It was tough to get everyone there. But, oh sooo worth it.        Thanks to the Bodines.

Road to Hana, We Survived...

OK so the car is a little bigger than last time.

Yes Jorie read the sign your hand is on. So typical Haynes.

Cort & Jo hang with the rainbow trees and the berry bushes.

Yes Dan, this beach really is black, black, black.

Time for the crew to take a break.

Watch me Mom. Watch me Papa.

Hold on to those shades Dan. The blow hole has been known to suck them up.

We finished the Road to Hana 30 minutes after dark and loved every minute of it.
Jenny Huish and Christoph Palmensopher married in Maui this year and we were lucky enough to be included. We slipped out of the festivities to do the Road to Hana. (for the second time --- yes we really ARE crazy.)

History of the License Plates

Jorie's car.

John's car.

My car.

Are we obsessed or what? In college John got SKIING, then gave to me SK11NG when he thought there was potentially a future for us. As the kids got cars we acquired SK1ING, SKI1NG and then SK1. Here are three of the current cars with plates...look for the others as I update the blog.

Equador and the Galapagos!

In Ecquador we combined humanitarian work with a vacation. We gathered dental supplies for a clinic there. Each person took them in two suitcases. We had only a carry on for our own things. Yes, we did wear the same outfits a lot. When we arrived in Quito, Guerterro met us at the airport along with Dan's sister and brother-in-law Thomas and Kate. They had been teaching English in South America for the past 6 months. We could see them while waiting for customs and could hardly wait for a hug.

AtThe Cathedral Iglesia de San Francisco we rang the bells, climbed to the highest bell tower, and all over the gargoyles. We went places you could never go in America. Richard Gere toured at the same time as us. All Jorie could say at the top of her lungs was "Who's Richard Gere?

A bike ride from Banos took us to water falls, carts across gullies and bungee jumping!

Otavalo here we come and then shop till you drop.

Many women were tiny in Otavalo. This cutie was less than 4 feet tall.

Looking for the blue footed boobies the first day.

Me vegging at The Finch Bay Hotel - Prince Charles parked his yacht at our resort. The kids sure were impressed.

Here Jorie and I are on the taxi boat that drove us out to our hotel!
John & I scuba diving. We saw hammerhead sharks on a dive here! So cold but so worth it. CJ was so excited about all the fish he didn't pay attention to his air and had to go up sharing with me. Lucky I had air left.

Ice Cream! First semi-American thing we had eaten in a long time! Yahoo.

The beginning of the end.  Fam waiting for boat to take us off Santa Cruz to the airport island.

Last taxi boat ride...(on our way to the airport to depart)

Jorie and John relax as they wait to board the flight.
